Report: ECB asks banks how they plan to cope with Russia sanctions

MOSCOW, Jan 27 (PRIME) -- The European Central Bank (ECB) asked banks with representation offices in Russia to say how they will cope with sanctions that may include disconnection of the country from the SWIFT payment system, the Financial Times reported late on Wednesday citing knowledgeable sources.

The authority asked the lenders to get ready for introduction of sanctions if Russia commits an act of  aggression against Ukraine.

The ECB also asked Deutsche Bank and ING about their connections in Russia and Ukraine.
